Rosetta: Journey to Our Origins

On Monday (19 October) Raymond Hoofs spoke about the Rosetta Mission.

He worked at NASA Kennedy Space Centre, the Brasilian Space Agency and last 15 years at European Space Agency (ESA). He started working as Science Operations Engineer on Rosetta Spacecraft development in 1999 until Rosetta Launch and in orbit commissioning in 2004. After that, he worked on Venus Express (to Venus) and Bepi Colombo (to Mercury) before returning to Rosetta for the arrival and Landing on the Comet.

He started his lecture by describing the formation of the Solar System and showed amazing videos, which helped the public understand better those complex processes. Soon after that Mr. Hoofs dove into a talk about Rosetta. The journey took 10 years and it is a proof of the human enthusiasm to explore space. It shows that our possibilities are limitless. Although the problems, which occurred and will occur, we as humans should be very proud and continue giving our contribution to science and technology.
