Introduction to Antennas for Space Applications

On Saturday, a day after the opening of Space Challenges 2015, Dr.ing. Marco Lisi gave three mind-blowing presentations in front of the cadets. His presentations were based on Introduction to Antennas for Space Applications.

Dr. ing. Marco Lisi is presently GNSS Services Engineering Manager at the European Space Agency, in the Directorate of GALILEO Programme and Navigation related activities. In October 2012, he was appointed Special Advisor of the European Commission on European space policies and he served in this office until October 2014. He is Senior Member of IEEE (“Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers”) and of AIAA (“American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics”) and professional member of ION (“Institute of Navigations”). Dr. ing. Lisi holds five international patents and authored more than one hundred and eighty technical papers in international reviews or conferences.

Marco Lisi started his first presentation with the quote: “While you teach you learn”. He told the cadets that for him the participation in Space Challenges 2015 was also a challenge. He was challenged to present a very complex topic in intelligible way within a few hours. And as the great physicist Albert Einstein once said “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough”, we have to admit that Dr. Lisi did it simply, in an incredible way, and proved his professionalism.

By including some personal stories, during the process of his work in the space sector, Marco Lisi increased the enthusiasm of the public. He answered all the smart questions and gave awesome European Space Agency gifts to the most active space cadets.
